Ergon Refining in Vicksburg currently has an opening for a Process Safety Engineer/Coordinator. This position develops and implements programs, procedures, work processes, tracking mechanisms, and reports associated with the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs at Ergon Refining.
The person chosen will oversee the PSM elements outlined by OSHA and RMP elements outlined by the EPA ensuring that Ergon Refining is in compliance, provide knowledge and practical application of existing laws, regulations, and procedures relating to process safety, and develop and revise PSM/RMP documented programs, procedures, forms, and other controlled documents to address deficiencies and areas of non-compliance.
The person chosen will also compile, organize, track, report on, and facilitate closure of all PHA and LOPA recommendations and facilitate, maintain, and manage refinery safety systems in LOPA, the instrument bypass instruction program, orifice plate management program, and other critical programs related to process safety.
A bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Chemical Engineering, is required for this position. Three to five years of PSM or RMP experience is required. Knowledge of OSHA’s PSM and EPA’s RMP standards and refinery process equipment are musts. The person selected for this position must be able to lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis, have good communication and organizational skills, be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, be able to learn job-specific computer programs, and successfully complete and pass a Functional Job Capacity Evaluation (FCE).
